Kennel and a home for Golden Retrievers

Merapi Kennel is an opened air home-kennel, right beside our village house at Gondang, Umbulharjo, Cangkringan, Sleman, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, located on the foot of Mount Merapi. We believe that the fresh air, cool breeze and quiet environment is the best place to breed Golden Retrievers.

Merapi Kennel was established in 2002, began with the lovely and spoiled girl Hilda as our first Golden Retriever. The character of this breed truly amazed and made me fell in love. Then early 2003 I started to breed Golden seriously with the guidance from Mr. Roby Darma Lie (Joscelind Kennel).

We found it attractive to see Golden retriever with symmetrical and balanced body, good top-line, domed skull, short muzzle; strong and muscular feet.

Ben, foundation stud not only for our kennel, but also for others. He brought new trend for Golden Retriever in Jogja. After his debut in Jogja, people started to aware how important bloodline was, and how selected bloodline determines the quality of puppies produced. Nowadays, his offspring are generating Ben's blood. Hope they will pass his "Benhood"  to their offspring....

At first, we decided to breed Golden Retriever based on The Kennel Club (UK) Standard. But, from the last two years we started to "put" some extra points for the glamorous feathering and beautiful movement from the American-style golden retrievers. We do really hope that this combination will result excellence quality golden retrievers.

Our kennel aims to produce family dogs, while show dogs are considered bonuses. That's why dog show is not our priority right now. We always try to provide superior bloodline with excellence character for our breeding materials. Successful breeding programs are blessing for us even though failures sometimes are inevitable. We realize that it takes so much time, hard works, energy, and, of course money to make our dream comes true.

Above all, I would like to thank my parent, and also Mr. Roby Darma Lie for all the support and guidance that make Merapi Kennel grows and for all my new friends for the knowledge shared. Not to mention to all merapi family for keeping in touch and their trust...
